About Lisa

Lisa Hammershaimb is a learning designer, graphic designer, and design educator committed to creating online spaces that nurture creativity and promote care. Because Lisa believes each person has a unique voice and vision, she works to create structures that promote connection, enable access, and ultimately affirm all students as valuable members of a living community

A 2018 graduate of the EdD program in Distance Education from Athabasca University, Lisa’s dissertation, The Transient Spaces of Studio Learning: Building a Theory of Online Studio Pedagogy in Graphic Design Education, focused on how design educators choose to extend studio learning via the internet. Through her work, Lisa aspires to inspire design educators to be brave in the face of complexity and build inclusive structures where all participants can learn how to navigate and thrive in an increasingly information-abundant world.

When not reading, writing, teaching, or designing, Lisa can be found—accompanied by her tiny dog Ruby Joy—drinking fancy cocktails, plotting new adventures, and recording it all on Twitter and Instagram
