Not sure about you but, my ability to celebrate and take ownership of my own success and potential for good is roughly 1/3 the size of my ability to disbelieve and generate negative self talk. This is an equation that doesn’t seem like it’s headed for good places. But…what if these percentages were switched? What if these percentages didn’t exist at all? I think perhaps what we need is not so much to ask “how can it possibly ever work out?” but, “isn’t it dazzling to be part of a story that is indeed miraculous and that continuously reveals us to be so much stronger than we ever thought possible?” Perhaps it is in the re-framing that we find courage…it is in the re-imagining that we find transformation.

May this week we not dwell in the negative or the self-defeating but may we dwell in the dazzling potential and the miraculous and the reminder, from the very wise A.A. Milne that “You’re braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.”

moving forward…

“But, of course, the university itself won’t be anything like what it is now…The individual is going to study mainly at home. And the great teachers won’t have to spend their time delivering the same lectures over and over, because they’ll put them on film. The teachers and scholars will be free to spend their time developing more and more knowledge about man’s whole experience–past, present, and future…Today’s students know instinctively that his world is dynamic, not static, and that the normal state of affairs is constant change and evolution.”

Buckminster Fuller, The New Yorker, January 8, 1966
